Snakes & Ladders: The Flolo Spring Challenge
A month-long game, played by practising
Do you remember, when you were little, moving in a way that felt fun and light? You ran because you felt like running. You hung upside down just to see if you could. Movement was not something you could be good or bad at, just something you enjoyed.
A practice can be disciplined. It can also be joyful. After a fairly intense year so far, spring felt like a good moment to reclaim the second half of that, so for the whole of September we are turning the studio into a game board.
It works like the board game you grew up with, except there is no dice. Your practice moves you. Pick up a game sheet and a token from the studio, put it up on your wall at home with your token on square one. From 1 September every class you attend earns you one tick off the task list. The bigger the task, the further you move. One tick per class, so choose strategically.
Move 1 square for any Yin Yoga, Stretch Yoga, Slow Flow Yoga, Dynamic Yoga, Align Pilates, Barre Pilates or Power Pilates class.
Move 2 squares for the ones that ask a little more: ankle weights in your class, a class before 7 am, a weekend practice, a class you have never tried, a new teacher, a double, or making a new friend and getting them to sign your sheet.
Move 3 squares for bringing a friend to class, practising at a second studio, leaving us a Google review, tagging us on socials or booking the Svadhyaya Sessions on 27 September.
Ladders carry you up for free. Snakes send you sliding back down, so save a 2 or 3 square task to leap past one. Everyone who reaches the finish by 30 September wins a prize. The earlier you finish, the more prizes there are left to choose from. First across the board, first pick.
